Reforestation Project In Senegal            Mon 11 Feb 08

Dakar based family business "Skins and Strings" employs local artisan craftspersons to produce best quality, traditional and rare West African musical instruments.

Skins and Strings work with Cheikou Thiome of the NGO "Dialaw Takkul" (Dialaw Stand Up) on their reforestation project in the region of Yene. Comprised of 7 coastal villages 51km south of Dakar, the NGO runs a reforestation project with help from local womens groups, students, farmers and villagers to combat the effects of desertification and provide a future source of income for the community by planting dimbah and neem trees.

Skins and Strings is supplying an Ecologics High Capacity Step Action Water Pump for irrigation use on the project along with assistance in funding and logistics.
